They will question thee concerning Dhool Karnain. Say: 'I will recite to you a mention of him. 83 We established him in the land, and gave him the means to achieve all things. 84 and he followed a way 85 until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and nearby he found a nation. 'ThulKarnain' We said, 'you must either punish them or show them kindness' 86 He said: "Whoever doth wrong, him shall we punish; then shall he be sent back to his Lord; and He will punish him with a punishment unheard-of (before). 87 As for those who believe and do good, they will receive virtuous rewards and We will tell them to do only what they can. 88 He then followed (another) road 89 Until when he reached the land of the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people to whom We had given no shelter from It; 90 So (it was)! And We knew all about him (Dhul-Qarnain). 91 He then followed (another) road 92 until he came between two mountains. He found beside them a people who could scarcely understand a word [of his language]. 93 They said, "O Dhu'l-Qarnayn! Gog and Magog are causing corruption in the land, so may we pay you tribute on condition that you set a barrier between us and them?" 94 He said, "That in which my Lord has established me is better [than what you offer], but assist me with strength; I will make between you and them a dam. 95 Bring me blocks of iron; until when he had filled up the space between the two mountain sides, he said: Blow, until when he had made it (as) fire, he said: Bring me molten brass which I may pour over it. 96 So they [Gog and Magog] were not able to scale it, nor were they able to bore through it, 97 He said: This is a mercy from my Lord; but when the promise of my Lord cometh to pass, He will lay it low, for the promise of my Lord is true. 98 ۞ And on that day We shall release them in groups surging like waves one after another, and the Trumpet will be blown – so We shall gather them all together. (* Gog and Magog will come out during the time of Eisa (Jesus – when he comes back to earth) and cause great destruction in the land.) 99 And We will bring forth hell, exposed to view, on that day before the unbelievers. 100 (Unbelievers) whose eyes had been under a veil from remembrance of Me, and who had been unable even to hear. 101
