O apostles! eat of the good things and do good; surely I know what you do. 51 Your nation is but one nation, and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me. 52 But they cut off their religion among themselves into sects, each part rejoicing in that which is with them. 53 But leave them alone, lost in their ignorance, until a [future] time. 54 Do they think that what We extend to them of wealth and children 55 have no other purpose except to help them in acquiring material benefits? No indeed. But they do not understand. 56 Indeed those who are overwhelmed due to the fear of their Lord – 57 Those who believe in the Signs of their Lord; 58 And those who ascribe not partners unto their Lord, 59 And those who give whatsoever they give, while their hearts are anxious that unto their Lord they are to be returners. 60 those vie in good works, outracing to them. 61 We do not burden a soul beyond capacity, for We have a record that tells the truth. No wrong will be done to any one. 62 Nay, their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this; and their deeds too vary from the way (mentioned above). They will persist in these deeds 63 Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication! 64 Do not cry out for help this day, for surely you shall not be helped by Us. 65 Time and again were My messages conveyed unto you, but [every time] you would turn about on your heels 66 "In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night." 67 Have they not pondered over the word of God? Has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or know they not their messenger, and so reject him? 69 Or do they say: "There is madness in him"? Nay, he has brought them the truth - and the truth do most of them detest! 70 Had the truth followed their desires, the heavens and the earth and all that is in them would have been destroyed. We sent them the Quran but they ignored it. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 You are calling them to a Straight Way, 73 and surely they that believe not in the world to come are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro. 75 We inflicted Punishment on them, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor do they submissively entreat (Him)!- 76 until We opened the gate of greater torment (death) and they suddenly found themselves in despair. 77
