Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
