And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 Do not betray me 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
