Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds which carry dust particles, 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 by the angels which distribute the affairs, 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 By the heaven full of paths. 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 They slept very little during the night 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 On the earth are signs for those of assured Faith, 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth! it is most surely the truth, just as you do speak. 23
