The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Star when it setteth, 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 nor speaks he out of caprice. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25
