The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
