The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And your clothing purify 4 And stay away from idols. 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
