The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
