Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
