۞ It is He Who created you from a single person, and made his mate of like nature, in order that he might dwell with her (in love). When they are united, she bears a light burden and carries it about (unnoticed). When she grows heavy, they both pray to Allah their Lord, (saying): "If Thou givest us a goodly child, we vow we shall (ever) be grateful." 189 And yet, as soon as He has granted them sound [offspring,] they begin to ascribe to other powers beside Him a share in bringing about what He has granted them! Sublimely exalted, however, is God - above anything to which men may ascribe a share in His divinity! 190 Do they associate those with Him who cannot create a thing, and are themselves created, 191 and neither are able to give them succour nor can succour themselves, 192 And if ye call them to the Guidance, they follow you not. Whether ye call them or are silent is all one for you. 193 Those whom you invoke other than Allah are creatures like you. So invoke them. and see if they answer your call, if what you claim is true. 194 Do they have feet to walk with? Or have they hands to hold with? Or have they eyes to see with? Or have they ears to hear with? Say, “Call upon your ascribed partners and conspire against me, and do not give me respite.” 195 The (true) Guardian is certainly God who has revealed the Book and is the Guardian of the righteous ones. 196 "But those ye call upon besides Him, are unable to help you, and indeed to help themselves." 197 If you call them to the guidance they do not hear; and thou seest them looking at thee, unperceiving. 198 Use thou indulgence and enjoin seemliness and turn away from the ignorant. 199 When satan provokes you seek refuge in Allah; He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 200 Surely those who guard (against evil), when a visitation from the Shaitan afflicts them they become mindful, then lo! they see. 201 But their brethren (the evil ones) plunge them deeper into error, and never relax (their efforts). 202 And whenever thou bringest not unto them, as a sign, they say: wherefore hast not thou selected it? Say thou: I only follow that which hath been revealed unto me by my Lord. This is an enlightenment from your Lord and a guidance and a mercy unto a people who believe. 203 And when the Qur’an is recited, listen to it attentively and keep silent, so that you receive mercy. 204 And do thou (O Muhammad) remember thy Lord within thyself humbly and with awe, below thy breath, at morn and evening. And be not thou of the neglectful. 205 Indeed those who are with your Lord are not conceited towards worshipping Him, and they proclaim His Purity and it is to Him they prostrate.
