He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and purified. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
