And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
