And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 You and your fathers? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
