The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
