Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 and raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
