AND THEY will ask thee about [the nature of] divine inspiration. Say: "This inspiration [comes] at my Sustainer's behest; and [you cannot understand its nature, O men, since] you have been granted very little of [real] knowledge." 85 If We pleased We could take away that which We have revealed to you then you should find none to guard you against Us, 86 Unless your Lord have mercy. His blessings on you are great indeed. 87 Say, "If mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants." 88 Indeed, We have set forth for mankind in this Koran every kind of parable, yet most people refuse all except disbelief. 89 And they say: We will by no means believe in you until you cause a fountain to gush forth from the earth for us. 90 or you have a garden of date palms and vines, and cause streams to flow plentifully in the midst of them; 91 or cause the sky to fall on us in pieces as you claimed, or bring Allah and the angels before us, face to face; 92 Or you have a house of gold or you ascend into the sky. And [even then], we will not believe in your ascension until you bring down to us a book we may read." Say, "Exalted is my Lord! Was I ever but a human messenger?" 93
