The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing. 2 With hearts preoccupied. And they confer in secret. The wrong-doers say: Is this other than a mortal like you? Will ye then succumb to magic when ye see (it)? 3 He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." 4 "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" 5 Not one habitation that We destroyed before them had believed. So how can they believe? 6 We never sent (anyone) before you except men to whom We revealed to them. 'Ask the people of the Remembrance if you do not know' 7 We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind) a Book, (the Quran) in which there is Dhikrukum, (your Reminder or an honour for you i.e. honour for the one who follows the teaching of the Quran and acts on its orders). Will you not then understand? 10
