And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
