Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
