۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 Then, are we not to die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
