The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the declining star, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
