The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
