The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 To be raised for a Great Day? 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 It is a repository of distinctly written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 a written record, 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
