The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
