The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
