۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images, to which you are devoted?" 52 They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 So he broke them into fragments, all but a great one they had, for haply they would return to it. 58 (When they saw the idols in this state) they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Surely he is one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness." 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act." 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 And We rescued him and Lut towards the land which We have blessed for the entire world. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac, and Jacob as a grandson. Each of them We made righteous. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And Lot -- to him We gave judgment and knowledge; and we delivered him from the city that had been doing deeds of corruption; they were an evil people, truly ungodly; 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75
