When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people, 10 the people of Pharaoh, will they not fear God? 11 He said: "My Lord! I fear that they will brand me a liar. 12 and my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be loosed; so send to Aaron. 13 They hold a sin against me, and I fear that they will kill me' 14 Said He: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, both of you, with Our messages: verily, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]! 15 And come together unto Pharaoh and say: Lo! we bear a message of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 "So allow the Children of Israel to go with us.' " 17 [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us. 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; 20 "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers. 21 And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel? 22 Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.' 24 (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers. 26 Pharaoh said, "This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!" 27 Moses said, "He is the Lord of the East and the West, and all that lies between them, if only you could understand." 28 [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." 29 'What, even if I brought you something clear' said he (Moses). 30 The Pharaoh replied, "Bring it, if you are telling the truth." 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 Then he drew out his hand, and it was luminous to the onlookers. 33
