The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ TA SIN. THESE are the verses of the Qur'an, and collection of explicit laws, 1 A guidance and glad tidings for the believers. 2 who are constant in prayer and spend in charity: for it is they, they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! 3 We have made the deeds of those who do not believe in the life to come, attractive to them and they wander about blindly. 4 Such are they for whom a grievous Penalty is (waiting); and in the Hereafter theirs will be the greatest loss. 5 And indeed, [O Muhammad], you receive the Qur'an from one Wise and Knowing. 6 (Remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his household: "Verily! I have seen a fire, I will bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand, that you may warm yourselves." 7 When he came up to it, a voice called out, "Blessed be whoever is near this fire, and whoever is around it! Glory be to God, Lord of the Universe! 8 [And God spoke thus:] "O Moses! Verily I alone am God, the Almighty, the Wise!" 9 Throw down your staff." When he saw it wriggling like a serpent he turned his back and fled without turning (to look). "O Moses," (said the voice), "be not fearful. Surely those sent as messengers do not fear in My presence, 10 Except those who do some wrong but afterwards do good to make up for the wrong. And I am forgiving and merciful. 11 Put your hand inside your collar and it will come out luminous without evil? among the nine signs to Pharaoh and his nation, indeed they were an impious nation' 12 But when Our Clear Signs came to them, they said: "This is plain magic." 13 And they belied them (those Ayat) wrongfully and arrogantly, though their ownselves were convinced thereof [i.e. those (Ayat) are from Allah, and Musa (Moses) is the Messenger of Allah in truth, but they disliked to obey Musa (Moses), and hated to believe in his Message of Monotheism]. So see what was the end of the Mufsidun (disbelievers, disobedient to Allah, evil-doers, liars.). 14
