The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him.
