The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
