The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 “He wishes to expel you all from your kingdom; so what do you advise?” 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (awhile) and send out heralds to the cities 111 who shall bring before thee every sorcerer of great knowledge." 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 Pharaoh replied: 'Certainly, and you shall be among those who are near to me.' 114 They said: O Musa! will you cast, or shall we be the first to cast? 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 And We revealed to Moses: 'Cast thy staff!' And lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention. 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 So they were defeated there and then, and were returned disgraced. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 and said, "We believe in the Lord of the Universe, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 They said, “We shall return to our Lord.” 125 “And what did you dislike in us, except that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Pour (bestow abundantly) patience on us, and bestow us death as Muslims.” 126
