And indeed Yunus is one of the Noble Messengers. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 and sailed away in a laden ship, wherein people cast lots. Because he lost, he was thrown into the water. 141 then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy. 142 And had he not been of those who exalt Allah, 143 he would have tarried in its belly until the day they shall be raised; 144 ۞ But We threw him on a wide bare tract of land while he was ill; 145 And We caused to grow over him a tree, a gourd. 146 We sent him as a messenger to a hundred thousand people or more, 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Then is it of their lying that they say: 151 Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars. 152 Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What ails you then, how you judge? 154 Will ye not then reflect? 155 Or is there for you a plain authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you speak truly! 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 but not so the true servants of God, 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 can cause anyone to fall prey to your temptation 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 "And we are truly those who stand in rows, 165 and we glorify God". 166 What, would they then say: 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” – 168 we would certainly be true servants of God." 169 But they disbelieved in it; soon they shall know! 170 Already Our Word has preceded to Our servants, the Envoys; 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 When it descends upon their courtyards, evil will be the morning of those forewarned. 177 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from them, 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 So peace be on the messengers, 181 And all praise unto Allah the Lord of the worlds. 182
