He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you attend; 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 most exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble, pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
