۞ Surely We had bestowed wisdom upon Abraham even earlier, and We knew him well. 51 When he asked his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so devoted?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They asked: "Hast thou come unto us [with this claim] in all earnest - or art thou one of those jesters?" 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 So he broke them into pieces, except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 (On Abraham's arrival) they said: "Abraham, are you he who has done this to our gods?" 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said, 'Burn him, and help your gods, if you would do aught.' 68 Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham." 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 We appointed them as leaders to guide the people through Our command and sent them revelation to strive for good deeds, worship their Lord, and pay religious tax. Both of them were Our worshipping servants. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
