The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 I am for you an honest Messenger. 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!" 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 Except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. 171 and then We utterly destroyed the others, 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
