The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 And the lofty roof. 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
