Therefore continue to remind, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer, or a madman. 29 Do they say: "He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?" 30 Say, "Wait, I too am waiting with you". 31 Is this what their senses tell them, or are they a rebellious people? 32 Or do they say, 'He has invented it?' Nay, but they do not believe. 33 Let them produce a discourse like it if they are true in their claim. 34 [Or do they deny the existence of God?] Have they themselves been created without anything [that might have caused their creation]? or were they, perchance, their own creators? 35 Created they the heavens and the earth! Aye! they will not be convinced. 36 [How could they?] Are thy Sustainer's treasures with them? Or are they in charge [of destiny]? 37 Or, do they have a ladder on which they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Or hath He daughters whereas ye have sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are overburdened by a debt? 40 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 41 Or are they planning a conspiracy? So the conspiracy will befall only upon the disbelievers. 42 Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols. 43 If they should see a part of the heavens falling down, they would say, "A mass of clouds," 44 so leave them alone till they face the Day on which they will be struck dumb, 45 the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour. 46 Surely a chastisement awaits the wrong-doers even before the coming of that Day; but most of them do not know. 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 And in the night, give Him glory too, and at the setting of the stars. 49
