The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning. 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
