The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
