And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your fathers? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
