NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 About the guilty: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
