The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
