The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise be to God who has sent down to His servant -- the Book, which is free from any ambiguity 1 (He hath made it) Straight (and Clear) in order that He may warn (the godless) of a terrible Punishment from Him, and that He may give Glad Tidings to the Believers who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a goodly Reward, 2 They shall abide therein forever. 3 and to warn those who say, 'God has taken to Himself a son'; 4 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood! 5 Perhaps you may destroy yourself with grief if they do not believe in this message. 6 Surely We have made all that is on the earth an embellishment for it in order to test people as to who of them is better in conduct. 7 In the ultimate, We shall reduce all that is on the earth to a barren plain. 8 Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? 9 When those young men took shelter in the cave, and prayed: "O Lord, grant us Your favour and dispose our affair aright," 10 Then We smote their ears many years in the Cave. 11 Then We roused them to find out which of the party had the correct account of the duration of their sleep in the cave. 12
