The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 The people of Lot cried lies to the warnings. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 and even demanded that he give up his guests [to them]: whereupon We deprived them of their sight [and thus told them, as it were]: "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
