The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And shade extended 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
