Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded) 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
