The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
