The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
