Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
